# Teams

### Introduction

**Teams** keep your people, tools, and content organized inside Fermat. Whether you're collaborating on a single collection or coordinating across an entire organization, teams make sure everyone has the right access to the right work — without the clutter.

In Fermat, everything is organized across three levels:

| Level            | What it is                                                                        |
| ---------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Organization** | Your company's top-level account. It contains all of your workspaces and members. |
| **Workspace** | A dedicated environment with its own tools and content, where your work lives. |
| **Team** | A group inside a workspace with its own tools, content, and members. |

At each level, every person has a **role** that controls what they can see and do:

| Level        | Available roles            |
| ------------ | -------------------------- |
| Organization | Owner · Org Admin · Member |
| Workspace    | Admin · Member             |
| Team         | Admin · Member             |

{% hint style="info" %}
Only **admins** and **owners** can invite people and manage access. Members can view and use the tools and content available to their team.
{% endhint %}

### Switching between your workspace and teams

Move freely between your workspace and its teams from anywhere in Fermat. Each team gives you access to its own set of tools and content, so switching is how you jump between different areas of work.

#### 1. Open the team switcher

Select the switcher in the **bottom-left corner** of the screen.

#### 2. Move between your workspace and its teams

Choose your workspace or any of its teams from the list. Fermat instantly takes you to that space.

#### 3. Access each team's tools and content

Each team has its own tools and content. When you switch teams, you'll see exactly what's available in that space — nothing more, nothing less.

### Viewing and managing team members

Open any team to see who's part of it. If you're a team admin, you can also manage who has access.

#### 1. Open a team to see its members

From the team switcher, open a team to view its list of members.

#### Manage who has access

As an **admin**, you can add or remove members and adjust their access to the team.

{% hint style="info" %}
Only team admins and organization owners/admins can manage member access. If you don't see these options, ask an admin on your team.
{% endhint %}

### Managing your organization

*For owners and organization admins.*

The **Organization settings** is where you manage your entire organization — members, roles, workspaces, and teams — all from one place. Use it to structure your organization and control who has access to what.

#### 1. Open the Organization settings

Head to the organization settings to manage your organization.

#### 2. Manage organization members and roles

View and search everyone in your organization, and change their role between **Owner**, **Org Admin**, and **Member**.

#### 3. Invite new members and assign them to teams

Invite people by email and assign them to specific teams as you add them, so they land in the right place from day one.

#### 4. Manage team members

For any team, add or remove members and set each person's role as **Admin** or **Member**.

#### 5. Manage workspace members and roles

At the workspace level, manage who belongs to each workspace and assign **Admin** or **Member** roles.

#### 6. Create a new workspace

Set up a brand-new workspace to give a group its own dedicated environment of tools and content.
